Word counter

Words are groups separated by whitespace. Characters count Unicode code points, so an Arabic letter counts as one. The figure without spaces drops whitespace. Lines follow the line breaks you typed. An empty box is zero. Nothing is sent to a server.

Questions

Does Arabic count as one character per letter?

Yes. The count uses Unicode code points, not bytes.

Are blank lines counted?

A line break adds a line. Words stay at zero until there is text that is not whitespace.
